About Pat....
Pat Allen grew up in a small village in the midlands called Mount Temple. He has been driving for many years now but his love for buses started in over 22 years ago when he purchased his first 14 seater mini-bus and he hasn't looked back since! With his wife Mary and three children they have together established a friendly and well managed mini bus hire business that has become part of their lives now.
When Pat isn't out tending to his small farm in Mount Temple, he is on the road...this is his true passion! He enjoys the job for various reasons, some of which being that he has the great opportunity to meet new people of all nationalities and varied personalities but along with this he gets to visit and see some beautiful scenery and places in this wonderful Country on his way!
From the beginning...
Allen's Bus Hire was established in 1988 when Pat purchased his first 14 seater blue Ford transit mini-bus. He started by advertising locally and soon began bring people to local camogie matches and other sports events in the area. Around the same time he started runs to Bingo in the surrounding area and soon he was running tours from local schools to and from places nationally.
In 1991, Pat then purchased another 14 seater mini-bus as business was starting to pick-up a bit and a couple of years after this Pat felt that he needed to expand the business a little further when he purchased a 21 seater...this allowed him to take on larger numbers on runs.
In 1996 he again expanded by purchasing a 24 seater, believing that he needed the extra room and he was right as business was picking up and Pat was now getting runs to and from the airport picking up numbers of people coming from Germany and other countries who arrived in Ireland to play golf and who also needed to be brought from place to place on the way...this extra room allowed him to do this with ease. At this time Pat had to employ some part-time drivers to help him with extra work he was receiving...this was another thing which made Pat believe that the business was heading in the right direction!
In 2000, Pat added an 18 seater to his fleet, by this time and before this some of the older buses had seen their day and were no longer road-worthy so this constant adding and removing from his fleet had to be done. Since then he has also added another 14 seater and two larger 25 and 30 seaters to the fleet....today he has:
14 seater
'00 - 18 seater
'08 - 18 seater
25 seater
30 seater
